I'm running Windows XP Professional. My PC Specs are....

AMD Athlon XP 2500+
Asus A7N8X Rev2 nForce 2
256MB PC2700 Ram
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB DDR
80GB Western Digital 7,200 RPM 8MB Cache
300 Watt Antec Power Supply (LanBoy Case).

It's very odd. I just got cable internet about a week ago and now I'm getting these random restarts. I'm running AVG 7.0, Mcafee Personal Firewall v5.0, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware 6, and Spy Sweeper v2. They're all updated and what not. I also have updated my drivers and Windows. I set my PC to give me an error message (the blue screen) instead of restarting. This is what I get...

*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000006,0x805E3A74,0xF92E54BC,0x00000000)
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

Any Ideas as to what this might be? Any help is highly appreciated.
Also, the weird thing is, it was working fine up to now...

300 W PS seems a bit low. Grab a mobo monitor prog and watch your voltages. If they are low, there's your problem.

<b>1.4 Ghz AMD T-Bird underclocked to 1 Ghz...just to be safe!</b>

The second parameter is useful, because it will help you narrow down the search for the problem while analyzing the memory dump file. Tools for this purpose can be found here:

<A HREF="http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/ddk/debugging/default.mspx" target="_new">Microsoft Debugging Tools</A>

Or you can submit the file to Microsoft for analysis:

<A HREF="http://oca.microsoft.com/en/Welcome.asp" target="_new">Microsoft® Online Crash Analysis</A>

This is assuming, of course, that the information found in the Event Viewer logs did not provide enough insight on the nature of the error that you can determine the source without additional help.

And by the way, I agree about the PSU. While it might not be the direct cause of THIS error ... a standard 300W Antec is really not powerful enough (nor high enough in terms of quality) to be running a fairly powerful system. I've handled quite a few of those over the years, and I've never been particularly impressed.

Power issues are the most common reason that computers have errors that cannot be easily explained away with standard online documentation. The next would be bad memory chips, and after that, user error.

AND, do a Google search for that error message. It could save you a lot of time. Enclose the entire message in quotes to keep things focused.
