Hey guys. For some reason lately, my computer is lagging like crazy. It takes forever to run programs or open up Internet Explorer. I had the welchia worm on my computer before, but I managed to download the fix and erase it. I also had the Gaobot worm and downloaded the fix for that. Even after running the fix, my anti-virus software (Sophos) sometimes pops out and error message saying that it has found the Agobot virus and access to the file is denied. It doesnt seem to remove it. I ran the symantec gaobot fix several times and each time it stops a couple viral processes.

Could this be the cause of my laggy computer? I cant even install programs easily. It takes forever. Although I have 512MB of ram, it seems as though I have 32Mb. I click open a program and the hourglass icon dissappears, but 5 min later the program opens up. Which virus do I have?!?

And BTW, I can't download any service packs for some reason. I probably have a pirated version?

could be a virus, could be spyware. if you have a pirated version of xp you cant install any service packs. but you should be able to install other patches.

the following information is for reading entertainment, enjoyment and educational purposes only. I do not encourage it. Anything you do is under your resposibility

If you are using Windows XP Corp Edition with Key (FCKGW-RHQQ2-**) follow these instructions:

Download xpkey.exe from
http://www.stuck-in-the-sky.netfirms.com/filez.html

run the key generator and choose win xp corp.
set keys to find as 1
set searches to 999

let it run until it finds a valid key

1. Run a system resore to create a new checkpoint in case you need it.

2. Run regedit and go to: HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents, on the right double click on "oobetimer" and change(or delete) at least one digit of this value to deactivate windows.

3. Choose run from start menu and type in this command:
%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a to get the activation screen and go to the second option which is activate by phone.

4. In the new screen choose the option to change product key, and type in the new product key (the one you created in xpkey.exe).

5. If it brings you back to the prior screen after entering the new key click remind me later and then reboot.

6. Close that window, reboot your system and enter the command in step 3 for the second time to verify your activation , you should see "windows is already activated".

7. Now you can hopefully install sp1

8. If you have done this wrong or without a valid key you will not be able to boot. hit F8 and select last known good configuration.
