Hi there,

I'm wondering about removing XP and putting Windows 95 on my new PC while I sort out what new software I'm going to need with XP ie. virus protection etc. Does anyone know how to do this?

Cheers

T.

Well since your new PC (as you state *new*) came with XP, it is highly
unlikely that 95 will run on it with the newer hardware on it. it is also
very unlikely that you would be able to find legacy drivers that would
support your hardware to go back to 95.

Bu, if you want to try, go here;
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and download the bootdisk for 95, and
copy it to a floppy disk, if you don't have one. Then boot to the disk, and
use the utilities to remove XP, and reinstall 95.

Are you sure you don't mean 98 (if you can get it)?

You will have problems finding W95 drivers for some of your devices.. don't
load W95 onto your system.. if you want anti-virus for XP, do a search for
'AVG' anti-virus.. its free, and for a firewall, either Sygate or
Zonealarm.. they're free too..

For an office suite (wordprocessor etc), go here..
http://www.nonags.com/nonags/office.html .. that's free also..

I don't use any of the programs above, but many do and with great success..

Good luck

Mike
