Am trying to remove a couple of programs from start-up and went to
System Configuration Utility to do so. This did not do the job. How
to proceed is the question?

David;
Contrary to what some say, System configuration is NOT the proper way
to disable an application at Start-Up.
Some applications simply recreate the entry.
You should go directly to the application and disable it from there.
Open the application.
Look for something like "Options" or "Settings"
Then find something like "Load at start-up"
