I've played Red Orchestra with some German guys before. They were the only other people on my team actually using tactics & communicating with mics, even though I couldn't understand them...

god, society is so dumb. Instead of laying the blame on video games, why dont we lay the blame on the 18 year old and his parents? People are stupid. There were serial killers BEFORE video games. There were axe murderes BEFORE video games. There were gangsters, and thugs who robbed and killed people BEFORE video games.

Remember Hitler? He killed how many people? I dont think he played any video games to end up like that.

Socioety has to realize that individuals are responsible for their own actions and that this blame game has to stop as we are giving scape goats to convicts.

Next time you hear about rape, they wont blame the rapist, theyll blame the victim for being "good looking" or out late at night. Damn, we should re-instate the death penalty world wide.

Gah! Thats .... dispicable.

I can only hope that the legislation fails utterly, otherwise no good can possibly come of this.

No great loss anyway, the Germans have to play with green stick men and purple blood in CS anyway... not sure if they have changed that yet though. It's all because of some law where you can’t play games where you kill things that remotely look human.

Maybe in the new version of German Counter-Strike:Source you shoot dazey flowers at your opposition till they collapse with the feeling of love they get from your generous gift to the face?

Hey they could have the new version of Half Life 2 Episode what ever with care bears that throw love at their opposition instead of grenades and try to give you hugs instead of ripping your torso apart. It’s a joke trying to censor violence from people since it is around in every day life, hell I need only walk five minuets down the road and my risk of getting stabbed increases from one in one hundred thousand to one in ten.

We are adults and violent games are made for adults that can make the choice whether to purchase a violent game or not. It’s been said too many times, if you take away games you are more likely to make the problem worse than better. Such short sightedness from governing bodies is pathetic. I am just glad I live in a place called Great Britain, we rarely have such problems with people blaming video games for the way kids are today.

We had a school shooting here called Dunblane, it was a shooting so horrific that it induced the gun ban in this country. This man did not do this shooting because of violent video games or violent movies. He did this because he was a suck paedophile that was frustrated with all the kids running about his local school that he was the janitor of.

People don’t do these things because they play violent games, I do not believe it is even the case that games can encourage or induce such acts. If someone is so sick and twisted that they want to go in to a school and shoot children there is in no way that a game can possibly be held accountable for such sick thoughts that games could not possibly place in anyone’s head.

Got a bit angry there...

I heard today that now Crytek has plans to move if their existence should become illegal in the near future.

When I think about it, the Germans already have restrictions on violent content as I said… So if terrible shootings like that happen anyway what is to say banning violent games will have any effect at all? Really here is a country with the most stricked policies on violent content in the world and they get more shootings than we do in the United Kingdom, a country with very loose policies on violent content in comparison.

It sounds like a nanny state that is close to repression, how can you call your people free when they are put in prison for playing video games.

The world is going mad!

Wow, how about that.

Ultimately, I think over-the-top, reactionary legislation like this will actually help the video game industry because it's so extreme that it undermines the anti-video game crowd and makes them all look like a bunch of out-of-touch fascists.

In any event, the prospect of going to jail for making or even playing a violent game is scary. I think maybe it's time I get together with my German co-workers and draw up a plan to smuggle Crytek and other game developers out of Germany before it's too late.

As long as it turns out as good as Chex Quest, I'm down with it. "Zorch the Flemoids and save your cereal pals!" I may have to do some importing...
