Can't shake error codes

Hello,
I'm using windows 7 on my users site I'm encountering two different error codes 0x80070057 and also 0x80070005 anybody know how to shake these loose ?

0x80070005 can be either VPN/PPP or back up codes
0x80070057 can be a registry problem
