Dear ALL,

I'm having a problem with my 6L HP printer which is printing a string of
characters (4x triangles right sided; 4x triangles left sided; 4x arrows
up-down; 4x !; 4x ...; 4x &; 4x -; 4x arrows up-down underlined) on the
first page after rebooting my computer...

Is there any person who knows how to solve that?

I'm using Windows XP (SP 1A) on my computer.

Please reply to my e-mail: fpsousa@mail.telepac.pt

Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards,

Fernando Sousa

Possibly a faulty printer cable or a loose cable connection. Uninstalling and
reinstalling the printer might also fix the problem... Ben Myers

You might also try changing the port from/to EPP/ECP, check/uncheck
bi-directional communications, etc. Are you using the XP driver or the
HP driver? Are you autostarting any Adobe products? Check the
autostart applications with Run command type:msconfig, select the
Startup Tab. Uncheck one of these at a time and see if the problem is
resolved.

HI

Thank you very much for your reply!

Regarding tha cable or other communications issues, they were already tested
and nothing was found.

I'm using the HP driver (but the windows driver was previously in use... and
was when the problem arrived... but the change for tha HP one didn't give
nothing new...) I did uncheck the bidireccionality and I'm not using
autostarting for any program from Adobe.

I couldn't find the way to change EPP/ECP....

Remark: my printer is from February 1998 and hadn't any BIOS upgrade...

If you could help with any other idea, I'll be grateful.

Regards,

Fernando Sousa
