bf 2142 black terrain

just installed game
using patch 1.10
ati x800gto vc using latest omega drivers
e6600 c2d
nec 20" ws monitor

get into game ok, but terrain is black in big sections as well as some trees, but is Ok in other areas. Some aircraft are black as well. When i hit esc key game crashes to desktop.

what can u suggest

I have dual 6600 GT's/latest forceWare release and Company of Heroes did the same thing to me. However after I noticed if I ALT-TAB'ed out and went back in it was fine or if I clicked the terrain a couple of times.

Still, it shouldnt happen at all. Quick fixes like that shouldnt be necessary.
