hmmm
does that motherboard support 3 sticks of unregistered ram? check your motherboard manual.

other things to try
swap the ram sticks around.
try one known good stick in each of the slots in turn

Tried the 256 Mb chips in each of the three slots and all three slots, and chips, work. So, I think it has to be a combination thing. Can someone help me w/ this?

Hello Jackfrost,
Although your mobo have 3 memory slots, it will only support and recognize dual-sided modules in any 2 of the three - that is why a lot of these 845 boards only sport 2 slots.... If you want to populate all 3, you will have to use 2 single and 1 double or 3 single sided modules.

Hope this helps a bit!

what is the best 512 Mb chip that I can use for my motherboard? I know it take PC2100, however someone mentioned that you can use PC3200. What would be the best chip to use in the first slot? I want to eventually have 1 Gig of memory in the comp. Thanks for your help.
