Hi,
My PC running Windows xp SP1 is called Boris, after me, and my other PC is
called Doris (running Windows 2000). They share an internet connection
without any problem whatsoever using a Netgear DG824M 802.11b wireless
access router.
For this I set up a home network, imaginatively called "home". While
thrashing around trying to do this, I created another one called "home b".
More of that later.
Now while working at Boris, I want to print documents out on Doris, as
Doris has a much faster printer and is cheaper to run.
Again after some thrashing, I went to Doris and allowed access to Boris
without any passwords and designated Doris' printer as a shared resource.
Bingo! documents printed out - yesterday.
Now they are both rebooted for the day's work and I couldn't get anything
to print, until I went to Network Places on Boris and "logged in" to Doris,
typing my name Boris, leaving password blank. Now documents print out.
I NEVER want to have to log on in this way - it is a home network and there
are no issues of security.
So questions are:
1. how do I make it so that when both machines are booted, I can simply
print from Boris to Doris without having to log in to Doris first via
Network Places?
2. if may just be aesthetic, but how do I get rid of home b - right
clicking gives no delete option?
3. cosmetic, but why does it take so long between clicks to explore
computers in my workgroup? the hourglass takes about a minute before
revealing Doris in the "home" workgroup, a very good reason for not wanting
to have to log in every time I want to print.
