Changing Motherboard

I built my rig a couple days ago and activated by win7 ultimate 64 retail after installation.

Now, my motherboard is acting all weird and it seems to be defective, so I'll be getting a replacement motherboard.

It's exactly the same motherboard except maybe they have different serial number. Is windows 7 going to detect this change and I need to reactivate the windows 7? I heard some people saying windows 7 activation attaches it to the motherboard. Is this true?

My MOBO is ASUS P6X58D Premium

Thanks.

Yes, at the time of activation, a checksum of hardware used is recorded, but if the new MB is the same it will not be a problem, and a different checksum is not is not made( requiring reactivation)
