Anyone tried playing BF2 on Windows Vista yet? If so what's the performance like?

I played BF2142 which is basically the same as BF2 since it is the same graphics engine (as far as i know anyways) and it seems to be fine. It runs about the same speed as it does in XP.

i run BF2, BF2142 & Rainbow 6 Vegas on my Vista install since November and they all run great.

I run BF2 & BF2142 on Vista with no issues.. I can't really even tell the difference.

LOL I bet you couldn't tell the diff with that rig. Probably get 1 fps I would guess on both platforms :lol:

Hey guys.. So you guys get BF2 to run on vista? hmm i have been trying and it keeps blk screen and crashing... Any ideas? :?
I tryed the 1.41 patch... I think it toke.. Hmmm

I have it running without any problems.
What are your system specs?

Hey Krisz,, i don't think that is the problemm.. hmm maybe
Amd2 5000 x2
7950gt sli ( no driver for that) so single for now
2gig 6400
750 therematake psu

hmm i got great speed in vista. But Bf2 No GO!

Well you should be able to run it no problem. Did you try to uninstall BF2 and install it again? It runs fine for me, and i have a slower computer than you, with a crappier video card as well.

I had black screens with bf2 in vista. Had to set compatibility to 'run as windows xp sp2' and 'run as admin', means i have to click 'accept' or 'cancel' to run the program now but has fixed any problems i had with it.

also, the same applys to FRAPS for it to work for me.

Yeah i forgot to mention you have to run it in administrator mode, otherwise the online game will kick you out

Howdy... oh really! ty for the heads up. Maybe i need to reload the game.
So can i ask Q? How do i make sure i'm in admin. mode in vista.
And what patches are you using for BF2?
I hope i'm not waisting your time. I have been googling this topic and having ahard time find info on it.

Anyway, I hope there is peace on your end of the key board..

Right mouse click on the shortcut on your desktop (BF@ shortcut) and select "run as administrator" if there is no option like that than select Properties and i think it is on the second tab you can set to run the game in administrator mode.

A sensible question is never a time waster.

Like krisz ^^ said: right click on shortcut>Compatability tab: set 'run as xp sp2' and tick the run as admin box. There is also a way to default the settings for all users on your computer but i am currently not running vista atm so i cannot remember what it is.

Without the Admin feature, you would get kicked from some bf2 servers for 'not having the right privilages' incase anyone was wondering.

P.S. I'm running patch v1.41.

Hey guys I haven't reloaded it yet. That four letter word is getting in my way. (WORK) I'll try to reloaded it this weekend. I'll let you know when, I'm up and frag in BF2. And thanks again for the help. :lol:

i 've a problem whit bf2 on vista.
if i want to play on multiplayer bf2 closes.
if i connect to a server bf2 closes.

please, can someone tell me why this happens

Usually if you are booted from multiplayer its cos of punkbuster. goto evenbalance.com, download pbsetup and try and update punkbuster...
