Im confused about ram for Gigabyte GA-8IHXP

can i get any 1066 modules or does it have to be 16 bit? is there a specific type? i couldnt find samsung anywhere....

Standard RDRAM modules are 16-bit, including all PC800 and PC1066. The fastest PC1066 seems to be the Kingston PC1066, which is rated at 32ns (good for up to PC1200 speed).

im looking at the kingston site right now... would you go with ecc or non.... i was thinking 4 256mb modules of ecc ram. its gonna be a server.

If it's for a server and it's important the data gets through with less errors, then yea maybe get ECC. Otherwise for normal PC use ECC is expensive, slower and generally not needed. Kingston RAM is very good quality too, good choice. Maybe 2 / 512 modules though, unless ECC doesn't come in that flavor?

unfortunately i cant find that flavor. i'll have to go with 2 pair of 256.
