Hello all.

I need a serious answer here so no maybe's please. If you know the answer 100% then please help me.

I have a Biostar M7VKB, now i know the board is only rated for a 200fsb because of the via chipset but what i want to know is if i can plug a 266 Athlon onto the board and run it at a 200 fsb without problems. I have read a lot of opinions about this and nothing is ever 100%. Even Biostar cant give a straight answer. I would really like to hear from someone who has tried or done this as i cant find a 1.4ghz at a 200fsb. Its only the 1.4ghz266 around and i dont want to get a new mb as i feel that 1.4 is enough for a long time to come.

Anyway enough now

Thanks Ahead for any help,

NoNco

If the chipset is kt133, then the 1.4 266 will run only at 1050 (100 x 10.5). I would look for the highest rated 200 athlon you can afford. You may be able to get it to run at 110-115 fsb. Or check newegg's refurbished section for kt266a boards. Some were going for less than $40 shipped. Pc Boost is closing out several boards. One pc chips was only $27 plus shipping.
