automatically to connect to wlan with dell axim x3i?

Hi,

I have a dell axim x3i that i'd like to use with the same given wlan.
the problem is that when i power on the pda it doesn't *always*
connect to the wlan; instead i have to go to settings/wlan and
manually tell it to associate with an ssid. is there any way to make
the pda automatically (at least try) to connect with wlan upon power
on?

the os is windows mobile 2003. would moving up to wm 2003 SE help?
