Hi, I'm running a Dell notebook with 256 MB & WinXP Pro. When on the internet yesterday doing auotmatic updates the machine 'froze'. On starting up the machine gets past the splash screen but then a Fatal stop Error (above) comes up halting everything same happens in safe mode. Is there any way round this or do I have to re-install WinXP which seems to be the best Knowledge Base can come up with?
Any clues would be appreciated.

Hi

Try the following link:

"0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED"
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.php#0x21a

Thanks Will, I've read through all the articles but the problem really stems form the fact I can't get into windows to load another partion or service pack as described in the K.Base. The system is frozen out with the blue screen straight away after the splash screen. Do I have to put in the winxp CD & will this loose all the settings/progs installed? Cheers

Hi

This particular Stop Code is sometimes awkward to diagnose. If Jim's web
page hasn't helped (normally it does) you may need to 'Repair' install XP -
which will mean re-downloading/re-installing the Windows Updates:
