Do you play Supreme Commander? How does it rrun on your PC? What's your build? What res/settings do you play?

I'm building a new commander, and this is my main concern (SupCom). I need the edge :)

Also, any other thoughts (good game, bad, etc) are welcome :)

I have an Athlon X2 3800 @ 2.4ghz with 2gb of ram and a Radeon X1900XT 512MB.

I run the game maxed at 1680x1050 without AA. It's playing really fine, and it looks damn nice.

Awesome game.

I've been playing it on an E6400 @ 3.2 with a 1950 Pro. Running @ 1440x900, the framerate started hurting around ~2,500 units on the map, but it wasn't at all unplayable. Split-screen definately needs beefy hardware.

Awesome game.

I've only managed to play a few games (resource management is more difficult in SupCom over TA, so my games last > 1 hour).

I generally don't use the split-screen, but I've found it comes in clutch when:

1) Launching nukes from 3 or 4 silos, while trying to overwhelm anti-nuke defenses (if you don't launch them fast enough, they just get swatted from the sky).

2) Watching the progression of a battle while queuing reinforcements/managing resources/etc.

I'm still a rediculous n00b at the game, though. I'll be running the game on an 8800 GTS by week's end. More to come.

Did you play TA?

I simply love it. I'm glad it came out 1 month before CnC3, since the C&C3 demo is also great.

The zoom function has spoiled me for other RTS games (play SupCom, then play War3). I loved TA and TA:K, so I was incredibly excited about this release.

I run high at 1280 (can't do much more with a 17-inch flat panel) and have no lag on a full skirmish, even when using the spacebar.

My rig:
P4 Prescott 3.0Ghz (typically...has no problem doing 3.8, but I like my system silent :-D - can almost do a fanless system)
Asus Nvidia 6800 GT 256MB
Asus P5LD2 Mobo
1 GB Corsair DDR2 RAM (2x512)

At moment play on (important components listed)
Desktop-
E6600@3.2 ghz
Gainward Gefore 7950 GT 512MB
2 gigs ram
Raptor 150 gig 10,000rpm
Vista Ultimate

Laptop/desktop replacement- (ocassionally play on this)
Dell inspiron 9100 with
P4 3.2 ghz
Ati mobility 9800 256MB
1 gig ram
Hitachi 80 gig 7200rpm 2.5" Hdd
Vista Ultimate

Works great on the desktop, i run at 1280x1024 everything on medium and no anti alaising or anything.
Missons
-Plays without any difficulty
Multiplayer
-Lag is visible (My friend and I hook up our comps, he has roughly same machine as me but better graphics, connected using gigabit switch) when its two of you vs 6 supreme ai on 500 unit limit. Its not to bad but for a four hour game it probably increases playing time by 30-60mins due to lag. Lag only really starts to happen when you are trying to break out of the defensive build up to the offensive onslaught, ie when you try unleasing your forces about 1hr into game. Lag depends on map also, biggest map we have played on is 40kmx40km

Works ok on the laptop, run at 1024x768 everything on medium (might have some things on low) and no anti alaising or anything.
Missons
-Play fine, but can have lag depending on mission and units (have not done many missons on laptop)
Multiplayer
-Usuable is about as far as I would go. Lag guaranteed after 30mins on any map with more than 2 players, map size has to stay at 40x40 or below, think we mainly play 20x20 if using my laptop. Lag when using my laptop probably easily doubles game length. Games can become un finishable becasue of lag

I would like to see the computer specs that can play supcom at maximum everything with 1000 unit limit on 80x80 km map with 8 players, and have no lag in game once players start reaching unit limits while launching huge offensives.

I am building a new pc, so hoping I get better performance. It still runs decent on my current ( Athlon 64 3000,K8N-Neo Platinum 1 gig OCZ dual channel ram, Nvidia 7600 GT OC ) pc but the new rig is a an AMD dual core and also going with the sweet 8800GT- the 320 meg version and also 2 gigs of ram)..

It's so weird trying to play my other rts games like Dawn of War. I find myself trying to use the mouse wheel to zoom out like in SupCom. Man, that;s such a great and intuitive feature!
