is eq2 wide screen compatable??

i dont really like the widescreen looks BUT i do have a gaming question, specifically for eq2. if u play, u know there's a ton of buttons and boxes you need to custom fit on your screen in a way that wont mess with game play. will a widescreen give that much extra area to work with? or are u stuck within the confines of the regular screen area or have to "stretch" the screen to fill widescreen, throwing things kinda out of shape, like if you set the ratio weird on a wide screen tv? did that make any sense? lol, if so..plz advise. thanks in advance
