Hi, i would like to know if you can play ps1 & ps2 games on a ps3. And those the memory card for ps1 & ps2 fit on the ps3??
Thanx and have a nice day!!
Supposedly, you can, but there have been some issues with backward compatibility. In fact, Sony has announced that they are removing the PS2 compatiblity in the EU versions of the PS3.
Here's the link: PS3 Emotion engine
PS1 Compatibility is almost complete, the PS3 has the chip from the original system to run the games so those shouldn't be a problem. The PS2 games on the other hand might be a problem if you are in Europe since they are cutting the chip from the PS2 out and instead emulating it with the PS3 processor. They've said that at least 1000 PS2 games will work with the PS3 and more will be added with updates.
The memory cards can be transfered to the PS3's harddrive with an adapter that I've seen online.
