I understand that retail boards with the new SiS 648 chipset are hitting the streets anytime now. Does anyone know when one could expect to be able to buy a board with the 648 that also has support for Rambus? I believe that ASUS has announced a board, but I have heard much more about boards for DDR.

I wish to start building a new system in about three weeks and was hoping for a 648 chipset board because it features the AGP 8X, but since I'm looking at the P4 533 bus chips, Rambus seems to be the best choice.

648 is used exclusively for DDR, 658 will be for RDRAM. Early test show the i850E outperforms the 658 by a relatively large margin.

The 655 will support dual-channel DDR, and will probably be their next performance chipset.
