Soltek SL75DRV5 and VIA Patch

Hi,

Ive just built a new system using the Soltek SL75DRV5 MB and an AMD 1800+XP CPU. Im running the latest BIOS, and Im not OC'ing. I have 512MB of DDR2100 RAM.

Im running Windows 98 SE, and all is well until I install the VIA 4-in-1 patch. After that, any games Ive tried, NERO, Windows Media Player and most other apps, JUST FREEZE THE PC!!

Anyone had this problem with the VIA patches? Ive tried the Ver. off the MB CD and off the Soltek site (DL yesterday)

Any ideas? Do I ACTUALLY NEED the VIA patches anyway? Its an ATi AGP card BTW (32 DDR). All replies appreciated, Im getting a little Pi$$ed off with it :-(

Hi m8.
I got the same board a few weeks ago and had terrible stability probs. It turned out to be the memnory timings for me in the end. I set them to normal (instead of faster)and all is as steady as a rock.
