I am looking at essentially slipstreaming my install of games to my PC from an external Hard Drive. That way any changes/reinstalls happen very quickly.

So I want to copy CD1 and CD2 for instance of COD to my External and then install from there!

When I do this it can not find disk two...

I have a buddy who is out of town that sets his up this way but I would like to set this up now without having to wait.

Any help would be appreciated..

I would in fact like to have my entire software collection ready for install from this same method.

Makes rebuilds of my machine a little faster (not as fast as a ghost image).

But also makes me portable.

Just create iso's of the CD's or copy the contents of the cd's to folders, and possibly create archives from them.
