Anyone else seen this problem? (or series of probs...)

Just Upgraded from abit board with p3-800 to MSI 745 ultra with Athlon 1800+xp and 1x 256mb (Samsung pc2700 DDR333).

Windows ME seemed to rebuild itself ok after a few tries, but still getting VXD crashes on startup and the machine is wobbly at best.

Running (yeah I know, plan to UG soon) Voodoo 5500 and SB-Live! in there as well.

changed the AGP from 4x back to 2, turned the memory timing up to Turbo, upgraded the BIOS up to 1.5 on the MB etc.

It may just be a case now of Re-installing completely the OS. and letting the box sought itself out again. However, I'd rather not do that if avaidable.

Also, even though the latest BIOS is on there, it still detects the chip as 1150mhz on startup. I've got the details for setting the proc. manually (11.5 x 133) so I'll try that.

Anyone had problems similar? Anyone had problems with xp? Apparently XP will stop your drives running at 66, it turns them back down to 33.

Going from PIII to K7 is just too much to ask without doing a fresh install (IMHO). Sounds like you've got your FSB set to 100 instead of 133. I've got no problems running ATA133 drives UDMA mode 6 with XP.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.
