Boxing Comics: Buffy Season 8?

Mike and Travis are both wrong: the comic isn't canon. I don't care what Joss says, it's not his call. And I think there is precedence: Is Highlander 2 canon? How about Galactica 1980? I'm not saying fans can simply ignore what they don't like. (Matrix 2 & 3 are canon and the canon is crap.) But the Buffy Universe is bigger than Joss Whedon. They may be the "continuing adventures", but they exist in a parallel universe. The comic accepts the entire TV show as canon; the TV show does not accept the comic.

I'll provide my own counter-arguments about titles jumping mediums: The Star Trek films are canon. The X-Files: Fight the Future is canon. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is canon. But I think TV/film is a small enough leap to stay within the bounds of fan canon. The jumps to Comic books and videogames are not.
