Terrible game. Looks and sounds great but where is the fun going out and shooting some ships over and over again and nothing you do affects the outcome.

You dont seem to understand the point of a simulator, the outcome of the war is of no consiquence, your victory is survival. And yes you had the argument with me here <--- link
Anyhow i love SH III and the torpedo firing solutions can be a bit difficult to get down at first, but as a tip id tell you not to use the periscope to take a speed reading of a ship, rather to stalk it for a longer time and take at least 3 readings with your scope at equal intervals and mark it on the map and then calculate the speed yourself, it takes longer but you get a much more accurate result.
Quick (albeit stupid)question,when you pull up your onscreen map,the circle with the line through one side,does the line represent where you are going,or coming from?I may have to take a 40 hour a week course on the finer points of this game(having fun with it however).
Yes I own the game. One of my greatest thrills in gaming came when I made a successful bow shot on a Destroyer and as it was sinking..it was listing to starboard while coming towards me while i was submerged at periscope depth. I just stayed at the periscope and observed the thrill of the moment. I swear...the ship narrowly missed hitting my sub...in fact...I heard the upper structures of the sinking ship actually hit my sub. I waited to see myself sinking..but stayed afloat and seaworthy. Amazing moment! Would have been even better had I saved the replay . Yeah...SHIII...great game!
Cool,I got a lucky shot (stern tube)on a destroyer that was dead astern of me and coming fast,I hit him,he kept coming and finally sunk stern first when it looked like I was about to have my conning tower run over.
How long did it take you to feel comfortable using it?I,m having a bit of a hard time getting torpedo usage down pat.
