I suspect the standard of living in Australia, Canada, United States and other industrialized nations to be similar.
For example we take a McDonalds french fry employee.
In the United States that employee makes $6/hour, in Canada $8/hour.
What would that person make if they lived in Australia?
The problem we have is we measure the cost of service by our own income not the income we would have if we lived where the service was provided.
