You should be able to use both media as long as you use a backup tool
that can write to CD, since "Windows Backup Does Not Back Up to CD-R,
CD-RW, or DVD-R Devices" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315255).

I keep seeing the statement about not being ab le to back up
to CD in XP with XP's backup app, and at least in my case
it's not true. I do it all the time.

When it presents the suggested A: drive to you, simply click
the drive letter of your CD and it'll go there fine! Or you
can send it to a different hard drive, a tape, whatever.
Except that it won't span disks, I see no limitaitons.

How come? No, I do NOT have any third party progs!
