at what resolution?

what budget will you have?

tbh, you would be best to see what the midrange dx10 cards have to offer and as such i can't really advise.

the resolution is 800x600, and the budget is $800(processor, GPU, RAM, PSU, MB, and HD), but hey if i can get 30-40 fps on max setting for less im all for it

Well good luck trying to play fear on maz settings with that budget. But then again at 800*600 you might just be able to. I have a 1950pro and i can play oblivion with everything max including resolution but in fear I have to disable soft shadows and some other settings for it to run at max res.

I have to say that, the resolution you intend to play at is not going to look all too pretty with max settings, say compared to a system with low settings but a higher resolution. Perhaps a mix inbetween would be better? Higher reslution but lower settings?

Video Memory: 256 MB
Other: Radeon(R) 9800 Pro, GeForce(TM) 6600 or equivalent DirectX(R) 9. Sound Blaster(R) X-Fi(TM) series sound card.

Memory is the more important thing to play fear so part list in newegg

something like cost almost $700.00, the most important part are memory and video card
