Hi there,

I've just bought a new computer.
It consists of Athlon XP 1700 CPU, Gigabyte 7GA-VRXP mobo with sound On-board, 256 333Mhz Transcend DDR, 60 GB Maxtor 7200 ATA133 HD(model # is 6L060J3).
Whenever the HD works and there is sound (music, games etc.) there are crackling/chirping noises.

p.s. I use win XP.

Please help.

I have the same mobo..It works fine with windows sounds and MOST games, but the sound on some games has the problems you describe. I thought it was the on-board sound drivers, but it turned out to be the games were not written for XP and had some compatibility problems.

I have a Maxtor ata133 also, but drive activity does not cause any sound problems. I'm using the standard IDE ports and not the RAID connectors. RAID is disabled in bios.
