Just purchased a new Giga-byte 7VTXE+ and wanted to upgrade to the latest bios before installing an OS. After running the flash855.exe and flashing to the F5 bios, upon restart there was a checksum error.

Dual bios kicked in and tried to repair the first bios however it said that the bios flash failed. Luckily I had saved the first F3 bios and installed it again after I figured out how to get it out of the dual bios loop trying to fix it each time.

I would like to know if anyone has had similar probelms?

This bios is

I would like to upgrade to the most recent bios but I keep getting checksum errors. Should I stick with the F3 bios and forget it?

I am running an Athlon XP 1600+, 256 MB PC2100 Crucial RAM, Asus GeForce3 64MB, Swiftech MCX370-OA CPU cooler, Enermax EG365P PSU, obviously Giga-byte 7VTXE+.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Unless you need that bios version badly, stick with the one you've got.
