i have a ecs k7s5a with the sis735 chipset and was wondering what the fastest cpu i can put on it because its time to upgrade from my duron 900 which i overclocked to 1.19 but it still dosent support my NEED FOR SPEED
Your motherboard supports all the original XP CPU's, and probably the newer "thoroughbred" versions as well. The XP1800+ is a sure thing and it's nice and cheap.
You're posting in a forum with class. It may be third class, but it's still class!
I own one and I'm running an XP 1800+. Go here- http://www.ecs.com.tw/support/cpu_k7.htm for the final word. It says that it will run ANY Athlon XP that uses a 133 FSB, including the high-speed .13 micro XP's. I have to assume that it means that I can run even the newest 2400+ and up XP's.
I've also come across a really great utiltity called SpeedFan, that let's you see what is going on in the board and also allows you to overclock the system, if that's your kind of thing.
