Hi,

I bought my pc about a year ago.. everything was to top the line then and now my motherboard has gone.. What motherboard should I get.. I have a 1.4 Athlon (non XP) and 768 DDR (don't know the speed.. but DDR was farily new at the time.. so probably pc1600 or pc2100).. I had the kt266 chipset in the old board .. should i just get the same chip (different board though.. had nothing but trouble with that blasted msi).. or should i get something newer and do the newer boards suppost my ram?

Thanks

Your DDR RAM will work on today's any DDR chipset based mobo.

I recommend MSI KT3 Ultra2 (VIA KT333 chipset based) for you. IF you don't like VIA chipsets, then get MSI 745 Ultra (Based on SiS 745 chipset). A good cheap nForce board is ASUS A7N266-VM.

just to be different ill reccomend the epoxy 8k3a or 8k5a boards (5a has USB2.0)

the boards are cheaper than others, yet very fast and highly stable.
