Can anyone recommend a good mainboard manufacturer that sells high performance boards with out integrated audio? I have heard that the major integrated audio chipsets (AC'9t, etc.) aren't that great and that if you disable the on-board audio it can cause problems.

Nope, no problems disabling onboard audio on name brand boards, I have AC97 on my Abit and disabling it worked perfectly.

You should not have any problem disabling the onboard sound. I disable the onboard sound in BIOS on most of my motherboard and never have any problem.

The Abit KX7-333 and KX7-333R do not have Audio on-board. These boards
use the KT333 chipset. Abit also makes similar boards with the KT266A
chipset.

Abit KX7-333R, Abit Siluro Ti4400, XP1800+, 512MB Crucial DDR2100, WD 120 GB HD, Santa Cruz.
