Hi ppl im new to the forum and wanted to ask you some questions.
Well I just built a system and wanted to know just how well it is performing and if any of the things I configured might be giving me trouble.
Configuration: -AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (windsor)
-Kingston memory DDR2 533 1gb (2 slots og 512)
-Added another 2 sticks of ram that a friend gave me, they are Kingston and are DDR2 533 also, I wonder if this can give me performance issues. -Western Digital 160GB Sata hard drive
-Maxtor 40GB IDE slave
-MSI K9N Neo Motherboard
-PNY Geforce 7300GS 256DDR2 (dxdiag says 512MB don't really know why look like it takes some ram of the the system)
I think that is about it now....I suppose my regular games would run 100% with high graphics on this system how true is that? And does anyone of you notice any probable conflicts between my hardware? Does the old ram modules can do any harm?
Some tests:
GTA san andreas:
1024x768 Full Graphics=max fps on limiter 25
1280x1204 Full Graphics= around 20-23 sometimes goes up to 25 or lower than 20 in specific conditions.
Half Life 2 Episode One:
1204x768 Full Graphics -Antialias 4x= 30 avg
1204x768 Full Graphics +Antialias 4x= 25 avg plus some little freezes less than a second short on loas circumstances.
I would really appreciate if anyone can give me some guidance,
Ok thank you very much I will see if i can improve no the gfx card. This one has a turbocache thing so even if its 256 it says its 512. I suppose its completely bogus and that a real 7600 with 256 would perform better right?
Thanks im looking forward to buy a 7600 512DDR2, but in the mean time my tech guy said that i can return my 7300GS give a little money and get a 7300GT which is a bit better.
So well i can run this 7300GT in the mean time and then switch to 7600 512 or use SLI and buy another 7300GT.
the 7300gt should be better as i believe it is just a crippled 7600 anyway, still it should do in the meantime and if it offer decent enough performance then you can stick with it. avoid the Sli route with those cards though.
if you can try and find a 7600gt with 256 of DDR3 but if not any 7600 wil be better than the 73000 series.
