KT3 ultra+ 6 channel audio

I bought a new altec lansing 4.1 piece speaker set for my new MSI Kt3 ultra since it has 6 channel support for audio. i plug everything where it belongs and i test it on msi sound effect manager and all four speakers work two front two rear but i cant get it to work on mp3s, games, etc. I put it in 4 channel setting. is it my motherbaords fault? please help im dying to play MOHAA in 4.1 surround sound. thanx fellas!

Music files are usually stereo, so have front channel information only. The same is true of most games.

In order to have rear channel sound, your MP3 player or game will have to have the facility to send rear channel sound to the system using an encoding method compatible with the Realtek chip on your MB.
