For anyone here who plays CIV 4 what would you consider the game to need for max settings on huge map? The only thing that doesn't need to be at the highest is resolution (I use 1280x1024 but will drop down to 1024x768 if I need to).

This game is a RAM HOG. I recommend no less than 2GB if you're going to play on a huge map. Your video will look fine with a Geforce7900 or equivalent on max settings, I would imagine. You'll likely get some lag when you zoom out to the globe view, but I'm sure it'll be just a quick bit of choppiness.

Make sure you get whatever the latest patch is as well as the latest video drivers. They've fixed at least one Civ4 graphics bug with the nVidia drivers from November of last year.

You will be fine with those specs.

I run a AMD64 3000+, 6600GT, 2 GIG ram system and it handles the big maps fine with there only being slowdown from the modern age onwards.

That's with the biggest map, full graphic detail and 17 civs in play.
