It is now safe to turn off...? Why, it's ATX!

Hi I'm running Windoze 2000 and when I shutdown it doesn't power down the computer, I have to press the power button. It used to work when I was on Win 98. I have tried enabling APM from display settings > power settings, but when I do that and I select shut down, it actually restarts the computer instead? I've also tried enabling and disabling APM from the bios too.

Any ideas please?

Thanks.

Check under <b>'Device manager, System devices'</b> to see if your computer has <b><font color=red>ACPI</b></font color=red> installed.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

I'd just like to thank you both for this information, it has come in useful. I wish I could see if it works but it's actually a friend's computer and I haven't had access to it yet.
