hello,
i've got a real problem here... let me just set the stage for you... i bought a motherboard combo set (ecs k7vzm with a amd duron 850 mhz and 128 mb pc133 ram) to upgrade my older system (intel 810 celeron 366 mhz and 128 mb pc100 ram). i also bought a new 300 watt power supply. now what i've done is take everything out of the older case and put in the motherboard, ram, power supply, and duron cpu and left everything out. then hooked up just the power supply to the motherboard, the ram, the cpu, and just the power switch from the front panel. and when i turn it on it seems to work fine until it gets to the screen the says how fast the cpu is and then it will just power down. i've checked the jumpers and the bios and found nothing wrong. now i just hooked up the power button so does the motherboard go through some kind of check that if a cable is not hooked up that it would just shut off??? any kind of help you can give me would be great thanks.....

Hey G,

I don't know if you did this beforehand, but did you reformat your HDD & reinstall your OS? Good Luck

Peace Out..............tile

god knows your entire system setup & he would answer your questions if he could just stop laughing

A lot of OEM boards had a pair of standoffs in the middle rear about two inches apart. A lot of retail boards didn't have the lower of those two. Look at the original board and see if it has the same holes as the new one. If one is missing, you've probably grounded the board to the case.
