Just read about this. Are there any other DX10 real application benchmarks around? Looks like it's available next week.

Here's some of the interesting bits:

Secondly, and more importantly to all you hot-shot overclockers and GFX junkies, the demo is also going to contain a system performance test. The test is an in-engine run-through of two levels of the game, complete with scuttling enemies, explosions and 3D meshes. The performance test checkety-checks your current FPS, average FPS, relevant system info (CPU and speed, graphics card, resolution and DX version) and, after a complete pass through of both levels, an average FPS for both the Snow and Cave sections.

I honestly haven’t seen a dedicated system performance test included in a demo in quite some time. Last one I remember for sure was for Final Fantasy XI, of all weird things. I’m sure there have been some others recently, but I’ve been too tied up with my 360 to be spending much time gaming on a PC. Analyzers used to be much more common back in the day, yo, but you crazy kids these days tend to rely on products like FutureMark’s 3DMark (http://www.futuremark.com/). Granted, the LP performance test isn’t going to dig as deep as 3DMark, but hey: it’s free!

So I say, let the battles begin! DX9 vs. DX10! Nvidia fanbois vs. hardcore ATIers! 1024 vs 1920! AA4X vs AA16X! Head into the LP PC forums and get your 133t on with flame-bait posts about your GPU-smokin’ performance. Make sure you list your rig’s specs, as well as your average FPS and graphics configurations so others can suss out if you’re being naughty and fibbing.
