Where will it end? Whats next... aliens running around wearing gap t-shirts and drinking pepsi in upcoming games like lost planet?
Most of you have probably already seen obnoxious and extremely out of place advertisements in games already. This isn't limited to MMO's or games bundled with adware either; if you've played a Steam game like counter-strike recently, chances are you've seen obnoxious and distracting banner ads placed on walls in game and wherever else they can stick one. I'm probably not the only one who is annoyed and disgusted by this new trend.
So the question is, what can we gamers do to prevent this from continuing to ruin our cherished gaming experience?
Well, you can try the old fashion, tried and true method of writing letters to the developers. If enough people write, they just might get the message that obtrusive ads are annoying.
Of course, you could also not buy the game. But how would you know if there are ads in it without buying it eh?
I personally haven't seen any ads in games that were obtrusive... so I'm not doing anything yet.
