I dont have a tremendous amount of experience dealing with SiS boards/chipsets.

What do you think? Which chipsets are good or bad. How are/is their performance, compatibility, support, reliability, etc.. If you had a bad experience, please be specific.

Stupidity should be painful.

At the default settings, the sis chipset is as stable as via or Intel. When overclocking, you'll get a variety of opinions on stability vs performance. I've used the sis 645 and 645dx, and both ran pretty well with name brand memory. When they first came out, I noticed some instability in the form of random reboots, but I have to admit to not using the greatest power supplies. I would urge you to be sure to use a quality power supply of at least 350 watts, whatever motherboard you use. The latest chipset, the 648, should run fine, but to be safe, I would read more reviews to decide if it's right for you. Ocworkbench has a review of the asus p4s8x.
