Somebody was playing around with my computer and now most
text displayed is unreadable... boxes, dots, all kind of
weird characters. I tried to go in and change the font
settings, but I can't read any of the message boxes or
tabs to determine if I'm even in the right area. Anybody
have any ideas ? The strange text appears in most
applications, message boxes, etc.

Maybe the language settings have been changed
Try this:
1.. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.. Double-click Regional and Language Options.
3.. Click the Advanced tab.
4.. Under Language for non-Unicode programs, change the language selection to match
the MUI language.
5.. Click OK, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
6.. Restart your computer

Sometimes system fonts are deleted or corrupt. Maybe TweakUI can solve the problem,
it has a font folder repair utility
