when i insert my floppy in the computer, which i have done everyday with the same disk for months( it has all kinds of saved info that i need), it states that my disk is not formatted. It asks if i would like to format it and then says that all information will be erased. Is there anything i can do to not have to erase the information on the disk?

It sounds like you disk is corrupt. This is pretty common with floppy disks, which is why you shouldn't rely on them solely for backup unless you have duplicates.
I would suggest testing the disk in another computer other than that you can try a Floppy disk Recovery Program. You'll have to buy one, I have no experience of them but here's a couple from google:
