My daughter's computer loads My Documents right after startup. I have
checked the registry for the reason why and found nothing, checked the
startup in msconfig, and the Startup Folder, but I can't get it to just
startup up at the desktop. Can someone tell me why this would happen and
how to fix it? TIA!

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Look in the right pane for a value called "Userinit". It should read:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

If not, double click the Userinit value and change it. The comma at the end is intentional and necessary. If your XP installation is on a drive other than C:, change the path accordingly.
