I've been playing BF1942/Road to Rome/Secret Weapons/Desert Final and also BF Vietnam for two years on my rig (see signature) with my single core Venice A64 3500+ .  I recently replaced it with a dual core A64 3800+ and a Scythe Ninja 2+ HSF.   It is very stable in P95, MemTest86, and Battlefield 2, but the screen freezes usually about half way through a game when playing any of the BF1942 games or BF Vietnam.  I updated to the latest ATI video driver, and made sure my WinXP is fully updated -- no improvement.  I switched back to the Venice single core (with the new HSF), and all worked great again, even overclocked to 2.64GHz.  I put the dual core back in again, and same result, both at stock speed and at 2.4GHz -- screen freezes while playing BF1942 and BFVietnam, but BF2 plays fine.  The games have the latest patches.  The video card isn't getting too hot.  (CPU temps don't go over 50C @2.4GHz in P95 or when playing BF2, and video temps max at 70C.)  What could be wrong?  I'm new to the dual core world -- is there some other dual core patch or software patch for WinXPHome I'm missing?

Yeah a lot of people had this problem as well..the real problematic racing game but i forgot what it was called....but i do remember that everytime you do this stunt mode and press control the game would freeze.  but anyway back to the problem you were having...you need this update from AMD called AMD dual core optimizer  http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processor [...] 06,00.html its the very first link...install it and see if that fixes your problems   the X2 series is a great processer
