Upgrading a CPU

I am looking to upgrade my processor from a celeron 400 to something like a pentium III 1 or 1.2Ghz chip. I have a Gigabyte GA6BXE motherboard with a Intel 440BX AGPset. I have recently upgraded the Bios to allow me to upgrade but cannot find out if the board will support a CPU of this size

Can anyone help me??

and check, or read your mobotherboard's user manual if you still have it.

I'd bet alot of money that your board wont support a 1 or 1.2 ghz chip though.

The fastest your board supports using a standard slotket is the PIII 1000EB (Coppermine). If you want to use a newer Tualatin processor, you'll need the special Powerleap IP3/T adapter, which I'll gladly sell you for $60.
