I have an mainboard with via chipsets. Northbridge VT82C691. Southbridge VT82C586B. I don't know the name of the mainboard so it is difficult to find any drivers and etc. Please help...
PGA 370, AGP, 3xPCI, 2xISA. (It is designed for AT cases!!!)

Please let us know all the info about that motherboard:

Nº PCI slots
AGP port yes/no
ISA slot
Integrated LAN, sound.

However as it has VIA chipset, all you need to have is the VIA 4 in 1 drivers, the last version is the 4.43 (about 3 days old)
VIA 4 in 1 has all the via drivers in the same file so you don't need to know the exact chipset and motherboard.
You could have problems with the sound drivers, but sisoft sandra normally says at least the model, so you'll be able to find the drivers for it too.

3xPCI slots
2xISA slots
AGP - YES
nothing on board, the mainboard is designed for at cases

Throw it out, that's probably the third or fourth WORST major brand chipset in existance, and a PC Chips board I think.

Better yet, put it on Ebay

PC Chips often put a "PC100" lable on the board somewhere, like the chipset heatsink (but not always).

You're posting in a forum with class. It may be third class, but it's still class!

Have you tried looking up the FCC ID number on the motherboard????

As Crashman says, it really looks like a PCchips....
You can look some pictures of them at http://www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de/q3998142/pcchips/pcctype.html

Anyway, as you know it has a VIA chipset just use the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers and no problem.

However if the motherboard is really a PCchips you could have some problems with the modem’s driver as the official page got a non-working one. If so, just let me know I have some working drivers for them.

I downloaded the latest 4in1 drivers, and all is working just fine. I downloaded the drivers for the modem, everything is working. The main problem now is that I want to know what processor can I use it with... Now it is Celeron 366, and in bios I can adjust up to 533. I was wondering if there are any BIOS updates, so that I can use it with faster CPU, because for 50$ I can buy much faster CPU, and without knowing what type of mainboard this is, I can't download anything but 4in1 drivers... I know it is an old machine, but it is for my younger brother, and I think thats a fine start... (I started with Pentium 200!) :-)
Thanks!

Whem the computer starts and you hear the beep press the PAUSE key. In the bottom left hand corner of the screen you will see a line of text and numbers. Write all of this down. Pres enter to continue booting.

Then visit http://WWW.WIMSBIOS.COM this will identify the mother ,bios, and if one is available ,direct you to a page to download a bios update.
