Firewire

Should i go with an Asus board which comes with firewire or go with the Epox and buy a card... the prices are about the same but is there any performance difference with onboard firewire and firewire on a card?

There should be not much difference if you use firewire mostly for DV capturing. I would go for Asus board as this would save you a PCI slot.

yah but i heard more good things about the epox board which makes me want to lean that way... and 5 pci slots is good enough for me... but does anyone want to tell me what they think is a better board?

Asus usually has a way better reputation than Epox.
I would also recommend the Asus and save a PCI. You may not need that PCI now, but wait...
