I was using Windows ME and my computer was running really bad, slow, freezing etc. Last night I installed Windows XP with no problems, except my programs are not on my program menu. I use a tax program and I was worried about my client files so I went to windows explore. All of my client files are there but I cant open them. I then thought maybe I have to re-install my tax program, so I tried that. When I tried to re-install the program I got the message that the program was already installed and had the latest update. How do I restore my programs and open them from the menu.

When you click the Start button -- All programs, your programs are not
listed there?

Otherwise the programs may need to be reinstalled.

As discribed on the second site below support.microsoft. com. Yes thats exactly what happened my son finished the installaton for me and created a new user account and put in his own name. So when I log in its as a new user. I tried the suggested resolution using my original user account but that just gave me another user account and all my programs are still somewhere else.

Thank you for your help at least I know what happen to my programs, but I still don't know how to get them back.
