My new Dell 2400 was working fine until I updated the OS
with Service Pack 1. In the middle of the installation,
the computer restarted and now the mouse is not
recogonized. I contacted Dell, who sent out a new mouse
at two separate occations neither of which work.
Any Ideas?

Go to System->Hardware Tab->Device Manager button. Expand the Mouse and
pointing device section. Delete the mouse. Reboot. Yes this is a bit tricky
because you don't have a mouse so you will need to use the keyboard. to do
that boot into Windows.
1) Press both Windows Key (key between the Ctrl and Alt keys) + Pause|Break
Key at the same time. That will bring up the System Properties window with
the General Tab open.
2)Use the right Arrow key to move over to the Hardware Tab.
3)Press Alt+D to open the Device Manager button
4)Use the Tab key to highlight the Computer name at the top of the Device
Manger list
5)Use the Down Arrow key to move down to Mice and other pointing devices
6)Press the Right Arrow key to expand the item and highlight the mouse
listed
7)Press the Delete Key and then the Enter Key then the Enter Key again to
reboot.

Plug n Play should identify your mouse at startup and reinstall the drivers.

Sell the extra mice on eBay. Post back in two years,
after you've installed SP2.
